The Orton-Gillingham Method
Orton–Gillingham is a teaching approach specifically designed to help struggling readers by explicitly teaching the connections between letters and sounds... This means that OG Practioners use sight, hearing, touch, and movement to help students connect language with letters and words.
Willow+Wren is founded on the premise that all students will generate the greatest gains with: diagnostic, explicit, structured, multi-sensory instruction delivered with high expectations and encouragement. While we follow Orton-Gillingham methods, each lesson is individualized to best meet the presented needs of your child. The instruction is uniquely crafted to meet the neurological make-up of your child's brain.
A Different Approach to Learning
At Willow+Wren, we use an approach that is flexible, multisensory based so that it is highly effective in teaching any child to read, write or improve their learning skills. We specialize in helping kids with learning differences (or learning disabilities), such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and profiles that may also include ADHD, autism and speech difficulties.
Customized Personal Learning Plans
Each child’s strengths and opportunities for growth are evaluated so that we know EXACTLY where to start. From there, we create a personal learning plan (PLP) that adapts to your child’s own skill level and learning pace. The PLP is evaluated at regular intervals to make sure that we are adapting as needed to your child's learning and support needs.
While my primary focus is to help students reach their academic goals, ultimately I want students to leave knowing how they learn and how to ask for what they need in a given situation.
